Collage and college............

Well, it's been a jolly long time since I wrote about anything creative but it's been a productive summer so I will attempt a round up.......

I had a fantastic trip to India which was extremely colourful and inspiring. Travel always helps to stir my mind and helps to get the creative juices flowing.

I had, previous to going to India been Exploring the stitch women, screen printing and collage work. I can't remember how many of my screen pictures I had posted so forgive me if this is repetitive but I was exploring some images I had taken of my son Henry and my friend Jasmine who had kindly allowed me to use some wonderful photographs of her and her boyfriend on their youthful adventures....

Ever the hoarder - my catalogue of images is growing and growing - when will I ever find the time to use it all.......

Collage "it's all very tedious"

"it's all very tedious" extended version.......

I have also begun Instagram which is an app for photography but one with a social interaction part to it..... With the combination of the collage art and the apps of Instagram , juxtaposer and pixl-a-tor I have made some interesting photographs which have ignited my imagination further with a view to working with collage art. I was also lucky enough to be able to work on an interesting piece based around a big top. The initial piece was a photograph posted by a fellow instagrammer...

Screen print and acrylic

Screen print on fabric with collage added. I'm going to add some stitch work to this as well. One day.....

Whilst I don't get as much individual satisfaction from these collage photographs As I do from actually cutting out paper and sticking I do love the Visual images and the fact that you can easily alter proportions...

The other excitement this summer is that today I have had an interview at Anglia Ruskin University to hopefully do an Illustration degree. The interview went well and the man who interviewed me liked my work and I think enjoyed the fact that it was a "prescription" portfolio from a sixth form or college. But just me and my sense of humour and imagination in my room......

Anyway can't say any more about that now as I'm waiting for the outcome but I hope it's positive as I'd love to have something to channel all of this into.....!
